Reiko
slaps Kotoko because she was the one who caused Naoki's
arm to be injured. Kotoko feels bad about causing
Naoki to be unable to enter the basketball tournament
final. Reiko then walks away angrily.
Naoki
comes into the class with his arm bandaged. Watanabe
and his classmates ask about his injury and
attributes it to Kotoko's doing. Naoki says that
there's still Watanabe in the team but Reiko says
that without Naoki, the school will never win the
tournament. Watanabe feels jealous when he sees Reiko
caring about Naoki.
Kotoko
comes home and sees that Naoki is already home. She
rushes to find Naoki but bumps into his injured arm
in her haste. Naoki grimaces in pain and tells Kotoko
to keep away from him. He gets two cans of drinks
from the fridge and Kotoko thinks that one is for her.
Actually, the other can is for Yuki and he scolds her
for being thick-skinned and a jinx to his brother.
Kotoko apologises to Machiko about causing Naoki's
injuries but she tells Kotoko that Naoki is injured
for saving the person he loves so it is a glorious
injury. Naoki denies loving Kotoko and heads for his
room.
The next
day, Kotoko offers to carry Naoki's bag for him but
she rejects her gesture. Kotoko insists on doing that
but causes Naoki's arm to knock against the wall.
Naoki tells Kotoko to keep away from him.
Reiko
tells Naoki to go for a checkup at her family's
clinic but Naoki rejects her suggestion. Naoki is
adamant about it even with Reiko's insistence.
Kotoko
comes to the 'A' class to look for Naoki. When she
leaves the class, Kotoko is dragged into the 'A'
class by force. Kotoko is scolded by the 'A' class
and Reiko insults Kotoko by saying that she's ajinx
who has brought Naoki nothing but trouble. Kotoko is
so helpless when Kin-chan and his friends charge in
to stand up for Kotoko. Naoki enters the classroom
and says that he didn't say anything to his
classmates. Kin-chan refuses to believe Naoki's words
and Naoki calls him a fool. The 'A' class then throw
Kotoko, Kin-chan and the others out of their
classroom.
Kotoko
meets Naoki on the way home and tries to get close to
him but fails. She asks about Naoki's injuries at the
breakfast table the next day. There is a ex-classmates
gathering at Izu so Kotoko's dad and Naoki's father
will go there. As for Machiko, she has to take care
of Yuki so she can't go. Naoki tells Kotoko not to
follow him around on a holiday.
Kotoko is
late for a date with Junko and Satomi when Machiko
comes in to give her a very old-fashioned frock.
Kotoko is unable to resist Machiko's kind gesture
when she insists on making Kotoko wear the frock.
Junko and
Satomi are at the fast food outlet waiting for Kotoko.
Since she is very late, they decide to leave without
her. Just then, they spot Reiko coming into the fast
food outlet. Junko and Satomi lie to Reiko that
Kotoko is on a date with Kotoko in order to
antagonise her. Watanabe comes at that time but Reiko
asks him to go with her. He is delighted to go with a
date with Reiko alone. Junko feels sad that Watanabe
likes Reiko since she likes him.
Kotoko
runs in the dress that Machiko gave her and attracts
stares along the way. When she reaches the fast-food
outlet, they have already gone. On the way home, she
finds Naoki and Yuki playing in the park. Kotoko sits
by the side and watches Naoki intently. Although
Naoki has noticed her presence, he pretends not to
see and ignores Kotoko. Reiko walks by the park and
sees Naoki and Kotoko together. She misunderstands
that they are on a date and is furious. Kotoko joins
in and throws the ball so hard that it lands in
between some bushes. Reiko takes the basketball away
so Kotoko cannot find it. Kotoko searches for the
ball for a long time and she gets dirty and messy.
Kotoko is even mistaken as a pervert and taken to the
police station when she sees a couple kissing in the
park.
Kotoko
returns home and apologises to Yuki for losing the
ball. Yuki tells her to find it or she should never
come home. Machiko stands up for Kotoko and Yuki runs
away, crying.
The next
day, Kotoko goes to the park again to look for the
ball but fails to find it. When she reaches the
school, Kotoko is shocked to find a poster saying
that she is a thief in the Irie residence. Reiko and
her friends insult her and throws her bag around. Kin-chan
comes to Kotoko's rescue but they throw Kotoko's bag
onto the floor. Kin-chan sees the poster and tears it
up in anger.
Kotoko's
classmates including Junko and Satomi don't believe
in Kotoko's innocence. She tries to defend herself
but to no avail. Naoki speaks up for Kotoko that she
didn't steal anything from his house. Reiko is
unhappy that Naoki is speaking for Kotoko.
Kotoko is
unhappy about the rumour and Naoki sees it although
he pretends not to care. At night, Kotoko goes to the
park again to look for Yuki's ball. She is caught by
the policeman again but Naoki comes to her rescue.
Kotoko thinks that Naoki cares for her but Naoki
denies it. They finally find the ball but it has
already been cut up. Kotoko does not dare to give the
torn ball to Yuki.
Kotoko
apologises to Yuki but he refuses to listen. Naoki
asks Reiko why she cut up his basketball and Reiko is
speechless. She feigns ignorance but Naoki refuses to
listen.
Kotoko
buys a new basketball for Yuki. Machiko also buys one
to pacify Yuki. Kotoko gives the ball to Yuki but he
rejects it. Naoki persuades Yuki to forgive Kotoko.
Kotoko feels bad and leaves the ball outside Yuki's
room. He finally accepts the ball. Kotoko is happy to
know that Naoki speaks up for her and Yuki has
finally forgiven her.
Naokis
explains to the 'F' class that Kotoko didn't steal
anything from his family. Reiko is furious about it.
Kotoko's
dad and Naoki's father go for the classmate gathering.
Just then, Machiko receives news that Naoki's granny
has fainted so she brings Yuki with her to visit his
granny. This leaves Naoki and Kotoko alone in the
house.
Kotoko
tries to cook dinner for Naoki but ends up making a
mess of everything. Naoki takes over and Kotoko is
surprised at Naoki's culinary skills.
Kotoko
lies in bed imagining that Naoki will come into her
room but Naoki really comes in...
