Itazura na Kiss: Drama Synopsis - Ep. 6

Itazura Na Kiss Episode 6
Never going to leave you again

Kotoko and Shige have breakfast in Shige's shop. Shige tells Kotoko to think of the days in the Irie residence as a dream so that she will be able to get over the past. Kotoko should find another person who suits her better than Naoki. Shige reminds Kotoko of the countless aspirations she used to have when she was younger. Kotoko gets caught up in her fantasies again.

Naoki and Yuki are cleaning up Kotoko's room so that Yuki can move back in. Yuki is very happy about Kotoko's departure because he can have his room back. On the other hand, Naoki doesn't seem to be very happy. Yuki finds some things under Kotoko's bed and desk like the test papers that Naoki taught Kotoko to do and the sash used during the school marathon. Naoki thinks of the days he had with Kotoko and seems to miss her a bit. When Yuki tries to pull down the girlish curtains Machiko put up for Kotoko, Machiko stops him and gets self-absorbed in thinking about how to decorate the room to suit Kotoko. Naoki and Yuki sneaks out before they are implicated in Machiko's nonsense again. Naoki's dad, Ki comes into the room but cannot uinderstand what Machiko is up to.

Kotoko is unpacking her stuff when she looks at Naoki's photo sadly. She starts to wonder if she should put the past behind her and forget Naoki. Kotoko thinks of the two kisses she had with Naoki and starts to mope around.
Meanwhile, Naoki lies in his bed and thinks over what Kotoko has said to him. He keeps tossing and turning in bed and looks frustrated. What could possibly be wrong with Naoki?

In school, Kotoko is shocked to find Naoki's name not in the top 100 scorers list for the test. Instead, Watanabe has clinched the top spot! Junko starts to get excited and congratulates Watanabe who is so happy to have beaten Naoki. However, Watanabe's classmates start to fight for Watanabe's affection with Junko. Kotoko bumps into Reiko and asks her if the notice board has made a mistake of not displaying Naoki's name. Reiko replies by saying that if Naoki has not come in first, he is not the real Naoki. Kotoko is convinced that the school has made a mistake and runs to the staff room.

Izumi-sensei asks Naoki why he submitted blank answer scripts in the test but Naoki tells her that nothing is wrong. Izumi-sensei asks Naoki to confide in her if he has any problems but he insists that he is alright. She tells Naoki not to do such a thing again. Kanhara-sensei goes up to Izumi-sensei and teases her for being unable to get Naoki's affection. Izumi-sensei tries to defend her actions and gets caught up in an argument with him.

Kotoko meets Naoki along the corridor and tells him that he is going to the staff room to protest against Naoki's name being left out from the top scorers list. However, Naoki says that there is no mistake made and leaves Kotoko feeling baffled.

Watanabe starts to flaunt the fact that he is No. 1 but fails to impress Reiko. She insunates that Watanabe will lose his No.1 title to Naoki soon.

Kotoko is having her meal when Kin-chan rushes in and insists on eating with her. Kin-chan feels like he and Kotoko are newly-weds but Kotoko tells him to stop dreaming. Shige comes and tells Kin-chan to eat at the back of the shop. He even screams at Kin-chan for calling him "father-in-law" instead of "Boss". Shige praises Kin-chan for being a good guy but after all, he is from the 'F' class. Kotoko feels insulted by his remarks since she is from the 'F' class too. Shige pinches Kotoko's food and Kotoko scolds Shige for looking down on Kin-chan when his own daughter is of the same standard as him.

Naoki skips school and Reiko is worried for him. Upon seeing this, Watanabe is also upset.

Naoki's dad asks Naoki why he handed up blank answer scripts and skipped school. Machiko tries to pacify her husband while Yuki looks on. Although Naoki's dad insists on making Naoki go through university, Machiko subtly hints Naoki that going with the crowd may not be the way for him. Naoki tells them that he is not in the mood to go to university. Machiko assures her husband that Naoki is just going through a period of loss and frustration which is normal for a teenager like him.

During dinner, Machiko laments that without Kotoko around, the house seems so quiet. Yuki says that on Sunday, the school wants them to go to Ueno Zoo with their family. However, his father has to work while Machiko has to bring one of their relatives to see an opera. Even Noaki rejects Yuki's invitation saying that he has something on but fails to explain why. Yuki is very disappointed by this.

Kotoko wonders why Naoki has skipped school again. Although she tells Junko and Satomi that she has given up on Naoki, Kotoko still likes Naoki a lot. Suddenly, their classmate comes in and tells Kotoko that Irie (Naoki's surname) is here to look for Kotoko. Kotoko gets excited because she thinks that Naoki is looking for her. To her surprise, she finds Yuki instead of Naoki. Yuki is here to ask Kotoko to accompany him to Ueno Zoo on Sunday because his family is unable to go with him. Kotoko agrees to it without hesitation and promises to meet Yuki at the entrance at 10 am. Kotoko is very excited because she has not been to the zoo for a long time.

Machiko goes to look for Shige and asks after Kotoko. She mentions that Naoki has been a changed person lately, thanks to Kotoko. Machiko still feels that Kotoko is the best person for Naoki and pleads with Shige to move back with Kotoko. Even though Shige rejects her request, Machiko is still determined to bring Naoki and Kotoko together.

Yuki sees that Naoki is bothered by something but is unable to help...

On Sunday, Kotoko rises early to make some food for Yuki. She makes a lot of mistakes and Shige offers to help her. Kotoko insists on doing everything herself and tells Shige that she is going on a date with Yuki. Shige cannot believe what he has heard.

Kotoko is waiting outside Ueno Zoo in the rain when she spots someone looking like Naoki walking towards her. However, even though it may seem impossible, Naoki has come in place of Yuki who told Naoki to meet Kotoko. Kotoko is elated when Naoki agrees to visit the zoo with her.

In the zoo, Kotoko is acting like a kid with her exaggerated mannerisms and loud voice. Naoki is unhappy about this but bears with Kotoko. Naoki asks Kotoko if she has thought about her ambition and she replies with an emphatic yes. Kotoko has made it such that her ambition will be closely linked to Naoki's. If Naoki is a doctor, she will be a nurse. If he is a pilot, she will be an air-stewardess. If Naoki becomes a golfer, Kotoko will be a caddie. If Naoki becomes a boss of a company, she will be his secretary. If Naoki becomes a star, Kotoko will be his manager. Kotoko admits that her ambition will become non-existent if Naoki does not have an ambition. Naoki tells Kotoko that she may not be able to follow him wherever he goes.

Kotoko brings out the food that she has made but Naoki expresses doubt in whether they can be eaten. When Naoki tastes it, he is quite disgusted. Even though Shige is a great cook, Kotoko's cooking skills are horrible. Naoki tells Kotoko that he can do anything he wants with his intelligence but he feels that nothing is of meaning to him since he has never lost to anyone. That is why he is feeling lost about what to do in future.

Kotoko starts to ask around in her class what their ambitions are for the sake of Naoki. However, she fears that the choices may not be wide enough and decides to ask around for more ideas.

Naoki's father, Ki comes to Shige's shop and has a drink with him. He asks Shige if the decision to move out of the Irie residence is for the sake of Kotoko. Shige thinks that this is the best alternative for Kotoko. Naoki's father seems to be beating around the bush when Shige tells him to come straight to the point. Ki asks Shige if he is still in love with Machiko and the latter admits it. However, Shige says that he loves Kotoko's mother more than Machiko and he is content with that. Ki leaves happily.

Kotoko comes to the 'A' class and asks about their ambitions. Although they refuse to talk at first, they tell Kotoko after some persuasion. Watanabe wants to be better than Naoki in everything while Reiko wants to be with Naoki wherever he goes. Kotoko realises that the 'A' class ambitions are so much different from the 'F' class ambitions. She then proceeds to ask Kanhara-sensei, the headmaster and Izumi-sensei about their ambitions.

During dinner, Machiko keeps looking at Naoki with a smile. Actually, she has found out about Naoki's date with Kotoko. Naoki tries to explain to Machiko but she is too self-absorbed in her fantasies.

Kotoko finishes the scrapbook compiling the ambitions that she has collected. When she gets too absorbed in her dreaming, Shige comes and wakes her up. Shige asks Kotoko if she is hiding anything from him but Kotoko insists that Yuki asked her out while Naoki was the one who turned up at the zoo. Shige sees that Kotoko is still in love with Naoki. When he wants to see the scrapbook Kotoko has done, Kotoko refuses to let him see it.

Kotoko brings the scrapbook to Naoki and he invites her into his room. Machiko and Yuki are hiding by the staircase and are happy to see that. Naoki sees the scrapbook and feels touched by Kotoko's effort. He accepts the book and Kotoko hugs Naoki in joy. Kotoko then pulls away from Naoki for embarrassment and whispers softly outside Naoki's room that she wishes to come back to the Irie family. Naoki does hear Kotoko's words but he stays in his room, feigning ignorance...
